MATHS SUCCESS CRITERIA AND MARKING SHEET FOR LITERACY.

This will be our learning in Maths and Literacy over the next 10 days. Of course, there will be some children working above and below these levels.

Add 3-digit numbers using efficient written addition.   Subtract by counting up, using a number line; check with addition.

Check subtraction using addition. Eg 34- 14 =20 so 20+ 14 =

We will be using recipes and board game rules as materials for the instruction writing genre.

Mental addition and subtraction: Add pairs of two-digit numbers or three-digit numbers and two-digit numbers using place value or counting on; Subtract two-digit numbers from two-digit numbers and from numbers greater than 100 by counting back or counting up.

TASC Task -  Question – How do shadows change by the Earth spinning?

Make a short (2 minute) presentation to show to other children.

This is a competition .You score points between 1 to 3 points for each of the following:

4.  You demonstrate what is happening by acting or using models.

5.  You speak clearly to your audience.

This week's learning.

Our Literacy focus over the next 2 weeks is on non-fiction stories in familiar settings.

These are the success criteria. The higher the number,the more complex the challenge.

1) I can write a story in paragraphs with a sequence of events, leading towards a suitable resolution and ending.  2) I can begin to write in paragraphs - a sequence of sentences which tell the reader more about a main idea/event/character.

3) I can use connectives and conjunctions to link ideas.  4) I can use paragraphs to mark significant changes of events or time.

5) I can use dialogue to move the story on.  6) I can use paragraphs to shape my story, marking introduction of significant events, characters, changes in time or place.

Our maths lessons will focus on Place value. The success criteria are as follows. Once again, the further down the list ,the more complex the challenge.

·       I can read 3 digit numbers.

·       I can write 3 digit numbers in numbers and words.

·       I can order 3 and 4 digit numbers.

·       I know the meaning of  < and >

·       I can use < and > between 3 and 4 digit numbers.

·       I can relate the value of coins to 3 and 4 digit numbers.

Children will ,of course, be challenged to go beyond these as formative assessment takes place.
