The children were challenged to find the best rock (with suitable characteristics) to build the walls,roof and foundations for a new house for Mrs Scarisbrick.

| Many children brought in their rock collections into school. The children prepared presentations to the rest of the class. They were awarded points for including certain elements e.g. Using a bar chart with an explanation. |

It was great to see the children so engaged with their learning. Children were inspired to complete their own research at home. They were able to take ownership of their own learning. A very positive learning experience. The children completed self evaluations ,using the success criteria, on how well they worked scientifically which emphasised the progress they made.
